A website that lets the images speak.
A digital home for artistic photography — where the interface recedes and the images speak.
Wormeline is a portfolio website for the Jana Anhalt Photography studio. The brief was singular: present the level of the artistic photography so that nothing competes with the images. We built a dark, minimal environment where the gallery is the protagonist — visitors browse the work smoothly, open it full-screen and reach the studio with ease. The site runs on WordPress and the client manages the gallery independently.
An interface that steps back.
How do you design an interface that doesn’t compete with the images, but amplifies them?
The biggest risk for a portfolio site is an interface that pulls attention away from the work itself. Wormeline had to serve both large galleries and single pieces — and always stay the backdrop to the photos, never their rival. Visitors need to zoom in, browse the gallery and reach the studio without friction. The answer was radical simplicity: a black background, generous space and only what serves the image.
Features that put photos first.
-
Visual gallery
An AJAX gallery with category filtering — visitors browse the work smoothly, with no page reloads.
-
Full-screen view
Every photograph opens immersively across the whole screen. The image gets the attention it deserves.
-
Dark, deliberate design
A black background lifts colour and light. Minimalism is a conscious choice, not emptiness.
-
Responsive on every screen
From phone to desktop — gallery, typography and photos stay sharp and balanced.
-
Fast even with large galleries
Optimised images and lazy loading keep the site quick even with hundreds of photos.
-
Effortless booking
A smooth contact form with email notifications turns interest straight into an inquiry.
Technology
A lightweight WordPress stack that puts photos first and the client manages independently.

We built a custom gallery system on WordPress with AJAX filtering, optimised loading and full-screen viewing.
-
Launch
We set up content management, trained the studio and tuned performance. The site launched successfully.
A compact three-person team — a project manager and two full-stack developers — worked in four clear stages, from research to launch. Every decision served one goal: letting the photography shine.

The result is Jana Anhalt Photography’s digital home — elegant, fast and entirely in service of the images. The gallery system lets the studio add and arrange new work on its own, and the site reflects the photographer’s artistry in every detail.
