What we build in WordPress

Website, store or migration

WordPress covers most of the jobs a company brings to the web: a website you manage yourself, a WooCommerce store with Estonian payments, or moving an old site into a new system. When the task calls for maximum speed instead, we say so honestly — the comparison is on our website development service page.

Pricing

What a WordPress website costs

WordPress is not a surcharge but a platform choice — the prices are the same as for our website development service. Below is the lower bound for three typical projects; the final sum depends on the number of pages, languages and integrations, and is fixed in the quote before the work begins.

Prices exclude VAT. Payment in two parts: a deposit at the start and the remainder at handover. How the price of a website takes shape is covered in our article how much does a website cost.

Why WordPress

Freedom that other platforms don't give

Choosing WordPress is not a matter of fashion but a practical decision: you manage the content yourself, you can change the vendor, and the site grows with the business. Below are six reasons — together with an honest caveat about when WordPress is not the right answer.

What's included

WordPress without the usual mistakes

The difference between WordPress sites is not the platform but the execution. A heavy pre-made theme, thirty plugins and unoptimised images make any site slow — we do the opposite.

Speed

Is WordPress slow ?

The short answer: it doesn’t have to be. WordPress earned its slow reputation through typical mistakes — a heavy template bought from a theme store, a page builder for every section and a plugin for every small task. A site like that takes four or five seconds to load, and Google sees it.

Built properly, WordPress is fast: a custom theme without excess code, caching, optimised images and minimal JavaScript. Our Softdecor WooCommerce store loads in 0.3 seconds and holds a PageSpeed score of 98 — despite hundreds of products and large photos.

Core Web Vitals is one of Google’s ranking signals, so speed is not a comfort question but part of your visibility. Every project of ours includes a speed measurement before handover — numbers, not promises.

And when the task demands the absolute maximum — heavy competition in search, high traffic, expensive ad clicks — we build on a headless architecture. An honest comparison is on our website development service page: we recommend the solution based on the task, not on habit.

E-commerce

WooCommerce with Estonian payments and delivery

WooCommerce is the world’s most widely used e-commerce platform, and every important Estonian service supports it. We connect Montonio or Maksekeskus bank links — Swedbank, SEB, LHV, Coop —, card payments and instalments, plus Omniva, DPD and Itella parcel machines with automatic delivery pricing.

The store is handed over with training: orders, products, stock and discount codes are yours to manage. A more thorough guide from platform choice to checkout is on our e-commerce development service page — including a comparison of WooCommerce with other platforms.

  • bank links via Montonio or Maksekeskus
  • Omniva, DPD and Itella parcel machines
  • multilingual store and multiple currencies
  • e-invoices and accounting integrations
  • speed: the checkout loads in under half a second
Languages

Multilingual WordPress that actually works

On the Estonian market three languages are the rule rather than the exception: customers read Estonian, partners English and a large share of buyers Russian. In WordPress we solve this correctly — language-specific URLs, translated metadata and hreflang markup, so each language version finds its own audience in search instead of competing with the others.

We choose the translation setup per task and keep it light: even a three-language site has to load fast. Our own site runs in three languages, and the very same system — content, metadata and search visibility per language — is also built into the Estadesign store, for example. A fourth language, usually Finnish, can be added when needed.

Process

A clear path from idea to launch

We work in five stages, and at the end of each one you see the result before the next begins. No stage starts until the previous one is approved — so there is no surprise at the end that is already expensive to redo.

  1. Scoping and quote

We talk through the goals, review competitors and keywords, and send a fixed quote together with a timeline.

    1–2 days
  2. Structure and design

Sitemap, wording and design built for your brand — the prototype is approved before the build begins.

    1–2 weeks
  3. WordPress development

A custom theme, the necessary plugins, WooCommerce when needed — fast, secure and extensible code.

    1–3 weeks
  4. Content and SEO

Texts, images, metadata, schema and analytics — the site is ready for search engines the moment it goes live.

    in parallel
  5. Launch, training and maintenance

We test, launch and teach you to manage the site. If you wish, we stay on for maintenance — updates, backups and security monitoring for a fixed monthly fee.

Case studies

WordPress sites already at work

Three different kinds of WordPress projects: a catalogue that grew the flow of enquiries, a fast WooCommerce store and a multilingual online store. Each with its own task and its own measurable result.

In total the iweb.ee portfolio holds 27 public cases — websites, online stores and campaigns, with numbers next to each one. We work with companies registered in Estonia, including e-Residency founders and EU clients: meetings happen online, contracts are signed with Smart-ID and invoicing follows EU rules.

After launch

The site is live — who keeps it updated ?

WordPress needs regular updates after launch: the core, the theme and the plugins receive security patches every week. The content you update yourself — that is what the site is built for — but the technical side you can leave to us.

WordPress maintenance for a fixed monthly fee includes weekly updates, backups to two locations, 24/7 security monitoring and minor changes: website €79, online store €159, large site €299 per month. Maintenance is not mandatory — access credentials and guides are handed over in full either way.

FAQ

You ask, we answer

We collected the questions we hear most often about WordPress. If yours is missing — write to us, we answer without a consultation invoice.

How much does WordPress development cost in Estonia?

A landing page starts from €590, a business website from €890 and a WooCommerce store from €1090, VAT excluded. The prices are the same as for our website development service in general — WordPress is not a surcharge but a platform choice. The sum covers design, development, base SEO and training; after a short conversation we send a fixed quote within one working day.

How long does WordPress development take?

A landing page takes 1–2 weeks, a business website 2–4 weeks and a WooCommerce store 4–6 weeks. The main factor is content readiness: when the texts and images exist at the start, the deadline stays at the lower end of the range.

WordPress is free — so what am I paying for?

WordPress itself is open source, and you really don’t pay for a licence. You pay for the work: design built for your brand, theme development, plugin selection and configuration, content migration, technical SEO, speed, security and training. The same logic as in construction — the material can be affordable, the value comes from the execution.

Can I manage a WordPress site myself?

Yes — that is WordPress’s main win. Texts, images, news, products and prices you change yourself in the admin panel — without code and without a developer. At handover we run a training session and provide written guides; we don’t sell separate WordPress training, it is included in the project price.

Is WordPress secure?

A properly configured and maintained WordPress site is secure. The bad reputation comes from neglect: outdated plugins, weak passwords and missing backups. Sites we build ship with login protection, a minimal number of plugins, HTTPS and automatic backups — and with our maintenance service the security patches always stay current.

Is WordPress slow?

It doesn’t have to be. What makes WordPress slow are heavy pre-made themes, page builders and an uncontrolled pile of plugins. We build the theme from scratch and optimise the images, caching and code — the Softdecor WooCommerce store, for example, loads in 0.3 seconds and holds a PageSpeed score of 98. If you need the absolute maximum speed, we also offer a headless build.

Does WordPress suit an online store?

Yes — WooCommerce is the world’s most widely used e-commerce platform, and every relevant Estonian service supports it: Montonio and Maksekeskus bank links, Omniva, DPD and Itella parcel machines, e-invoices and accounting integrations. For a larger store or special requirements we compare WooCommerce honestly with other platforms before deciding.

Do you build multilingual WordPress sites?

Yes, it is our everyday work — on the Estonian market three languages are the rule rather than the exception. We set the language versions up correctly: language-specific URLs, hreflang markup and translated metadata, so each language finds its own audience in Google. We build sites in Estonian, English, Russian and, when needed, Finnish.

Do you use a pre-made theme or build your own?

We build the theme around your design. A pre-made theme looks cheaper, but it carries someone else’s look, heavy code and dozens of features you never use — all of which costs speed and security. A custom theme is light, looks like your brand and is easier to develop further.

Can you migrate my site from Wix, Squarespace or an old CMS to WordPress?

Yes. During migration we transfer the content, images and structure, set up 301 redirects from the old URLs and preserve the SEO value — rankings don’t drop because of the move. We have made the same journey in the opposite direction too, so we will tell you honestly if WordPress is not the right choice for your task.

Can I build the site in WordPress myself?

You can — WordPress is built so that you can manage on your own, and tutorials are everywhere. The line runs at ambition: when the site is your sales channel, design, speed, technical SEO and Estonian payment integrations come into play, where inexperience costs time and the result stays average. An honest comparison is in our article on AI website builders versus an agency.

What happens after launch — who updates the site?

The content you update yourself; the technical side you can leave to us: WordPress maintenance for a fixed monthly fee includes weekly updates, backups, security monitoring and minor changes. Website €79, online store €159 per month. Maintenance is not mandatory — the site is yours, and we hand over full access.
